FAQs

What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and why should I train it?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling martial art that focuses on submissions, positional control, and real-world self-defence. Training BJJ improves fitness, builds confidence, and teaches discipline while providing a welcoming community environment.

is Jiu-Jitsu suitable for kids?

Yes. Our kids’ Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are tailored to ages 4–16, teaching discipline, confidence, and respect while improving fitness. Children learn self-defence in a safe, structured, and fun environment.

Do I need experience or fitness before starting BJJ?

No prior experience or fitness level is required to begin. Our beginner-friendly classes introduce the basics step by step, making Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu accessible to complete beginners while still challenging for advanced practitioners.

Do you offer trial classes for new members?

Yes. We offer free trial trial week so new students can experience Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu before committing to membership. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet our coaches, see the facilities, and try out a class with no pressure.

What should I bring with me to my first Jiu-Jitsu class?

For your first BJJ session, wear comfortable sports clothing (such as shorts and a t-shirt with no zips). If you don’t own a gi (uniform) yet, we can provide one for trial classes.

How often should I train BJJ to see progress?

For beginners, 2–3 sessions per week is ideal to build skills and fitness without overtraining. Consistency is the most important factor in progressing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, whether your goal is fitness, competition, or self-defence.
